Hiterra was established by two Japanese companies: a construction business and a project management practice, to deliver internationally. This page sets out how the group is put together.
How it was formed
Rebirth, a construction business with a long delivery record in Japan, and Futaba Consultants, a project management practice working on major infrastructure across more than thirty countries, came together to establish Hiterra. Hiterra is the international side of that construction capability, with the management practice alongside it rather than beneath it.
The intent was specific. Both companies had capability that international clients repeatedly asked for and struggled to reach. Hiterra exists to be the party that quotes the enquiry and holds the contract, wherever the project is.
Entities
Hiterra
The commercial and delivery entity for international work. Holds the client relationship and the contract.
Rebirth Ltd.
Structural design and calculation, fabrication in its own workshops, erection, roofing and cladding. Power generation, manufacturing plant, food production, cold chain, distribution, defence and public works.
Futaba Consultants Ltd.
Owner-side project management, site supervision, cost management and contract administration on rail, airport, water and process programmes for owners, ministries and funding agencies.
In Saudi Arabia
Hiterra entered Saudi Arabia through an established contracting company within the Al Tamimi group. It has been building in the Eastern Province for decades, with operations at Al Khobar, Abqaiq and Haradh across civil, infrastructure, oil and gas. That standing is what allows us to contract and build in the Kingdom rather than advise from outside, and it is a permanent arrangement rather than a project one. Japanese engineering is brought in; the contract is Saudi.
Clients contract with one party. The structure above exists so that party can sign, build and be accountable in each market it operates in.
